How To Make Your Apartment Larger and More Exciting Than It Actually Looks
May 16th, 2009 by andrew

Apartments can be very small.  One bedroom apartment homes can be in the 600 square foot range.  Honestly, this is not a whole lot of space when you consider most people have furniture including tables, chairs, sofas, couches, and of course personal items.  Many apartment homes have extra storage space, but how can you actually brighten up your apartment home and make it look larger than it really is.

1) Many apartment communities will allow you to paint the wall in your apartment home. The majority of apartment homes have white walls, which actually make your apartment home feel smaller than it really is.  Gray, or different shades of a blue grayish color will provide a bit more depth into your apartment home.  This may give you the look you are aiming for.

You might want to also try and paint each wall a separate color. This will definitely make your apartment home stand out.  Some people try painting different themes on their apartment homes. Lets say you will have a wide array of ideas.

2) You can purchase accessories at nominal costs like baskets and shelving system. Some apartment communities have built in shelves. So take advantage and storage your personal books or even other items like CD’s may work well.  We have seen some renters purchase floor to ceiling shelving systems and incorporated this too. May sure

Don’t put your furniture in tight and small spaces as this usually doesn’t work very well and can give the opposite effect of what you are trying for in your Tomball Texas apartments.

How to Reduce Your Electricity Usage in Your Home
May 7th, 2009 by andrew

We can all play a part in reducing the electricity we use in our homes or apartments. Not only will this help us save money each month, we will also be doing our part in saving more renewable resources and thereby helping to save our planet.

A) Turn off the light in your apartment home if you are not in the room.  Of course you should turn the lights off when you leave for the day, but more importantly, if you are in the living room turn off your lighting in the bedroom or bathrooms.  Even consider  taking out the lights from certain rooms if you rarely use them. Even though your switch may be flipped off, a current is still running through and thereby electricity is still being used.

B) During the winter months increase the temperature on your thermostat. As a result your air conditioner will run less often and in essence use less electricity. Some statistics state that for every degree on your thermostat, you will likely save up to 3% on your total energy costs. So by saving a few degrees you may be able to put a dent in your energy bill.

C) Another method many people are employing today, is replacing your incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent light bulbs.  These latter bulbs can even last up to ten to twelve times longer than regular bulbs. Even though the costs may be more upfront, you will save money in the end.
