What To Do Before You Leave Your Apartment Home
Jun 24th, 2009 by andrew

After you pack up your things and are ready to move out of your apartment home, be sure and complete these steps before you say goodbye for good. Most people have some sort of security deposit or pet deposit that the apartment has placed in holdings.  If you want that back and you don’t want to lose additional monies make sure you apartment home is clean.

When you first moved into your apartment home the leasing agent most likely gave you a checklist which asked you to notate any items in the home which were damaged or looked in need of some work.  You were supposed to turn this in within a few days.  Many renters forget or throw away the form.  It is much better to be cautious and take the time to fill out the form in its entirety.

If you choose to lease a loft, there are many Houston lofts for rent which have hardwood and concrete floors. This makes it very easy to clean up.

However, lofts properties are usually constructed in the inner loop.  Apartments in Katy usually don’t consist of any loft floor-plans.

Apartments will conduct a walk-thru after you leave the premises.  We recommend to our customers that they schedule a walk-thru while you are present.  This can help you recover some of your deposit money.

Renters can employ a cleaning service which will thoroughly clean you apartment home and bring it back into the shape it was before you moved in.  This is not very expensive and considering deposits can range well above$500 this can be to your advantage.

Apartment Locator Websites
Jun 18th, 2009 by andrew

Apartment locator websites have sure come a long way.  Now the rent.com’s of the world have very sophisticated sites that include floor plan galleries, photo galleries, map locations descriptions, and much more.

Local apartment locators usually have a websites that are less than 20 pages.  Usually the photos are static, meaning you cannot zoom in or out, it is just a photo on a page.  These types of sites are not very helpful if you are trying to get detailed information regarding a site.

However, they load extremely fast because there are not a whole lot of images and maps.

If you have a slow speed connection you may have to wait awhile for the site to load.  Dial up won’t work very well on detailed sites.

Usually sites load based on a variety of stats.  The design of a site is also very important.  Depending on how your web developer built your site can also have a huge impact on your site.  Nested tables are a no no and may slow down your site.

If you have google maps or other maps that load, depending on how zoomed in they are can also affect the speed.  Keep in mind that how fast your pages load is very important.  If it takes over 5 seconds users may click off your site and this may lead to a higher bounce rate than you might prefer.

Sometimes the best performing sites are not the ones with flash, fancy images, and music.  People who surf the Internet want information as soon as possible. And if your site doesn’t load fast they will find one that does.

Find The Best Apartment Specials
Jun 12th, 2009 by andrew

If you are searching for great apartment deals there are a few different methods you can use.  Many Houston apartments are offering spectacular incentives right now, its just a matter of discovering them.

Look For New Construction

New apartment communities are looking to fill up their vacancies as fast as possible.  The easiest way to fill up vacancies is to offer specials including one or two months free, $0 deposits, and even flat screen television sets.

Finding the area you want to live in is probably the most important part of your move.  Then you can narrow down which apartment communities you are interested in.  The Internet is a great place to start.  Many apartment websites will display the newest apartment communities. And you can rest assured that new communities will give you an incentive.

Try to move in in the fall and holiday months like November and December. Typically this is a slow season for apartments and they are more likely to try and offer you a special to get in.  And moving is much less stressful during the winter months for two reasons.

1) Most people are not moving.

2) Generally work is not busy and people are preparing for the holidays.  This should give you plenty of time to pick the right apartment home.

Also apartments that have more vacancies than they are comfortable with will offer specials too. It is a bit harder to discover these places. A good Houston apartment locator can assist you.
